Born
and raised in Los Angeles California,"Jeyd" began
painting at an early age and began her Graffiti journey in
the early 90's. She began using spray paint as her focal medium
and explored different surfaces and styles of painting. Jeyd
took to painting images that were more political in nature
and used influences drawn from various indigenous cultures
(going back to her own South American roots). Her paintings
show the struggle of spiritual beings and corporate strong
holds wrestling to gain control. Nature and machinery struggle
for dominance, the fight for control over the earth and all
of its natural unseen realms. Jeyd's mediums of choice range
from acrylic to spray paint to oils and her surfaces vary
from canvas to wood to trains and concrete. Having a connection
to earth and all of its wonders Jeyd tries to convey messages
of hope and inspiration in her paintings to viewers who may
be consumed by mainstream media. Nicholas Ganz has published
Jeyds artwork, in the book Graffiti World: Street Art from
Five Continents. Jeyd has exhibited her work at Self Help
Graphics, Crewest, Sparcs, DA Gallery in Pomona, and Meltdown
in Los Angeles. Jeyds Street art is currently on display at
the Commerce wall where she painted along with recognized
street artists Vyal and Werc. Jeyd has also painted murals
with artists such as Man One, Pita, ECB, Yours, Asylm, Vox,
Sherm, and Diva at various walls in Los Angeles and surrounding
counties, and in Hawaii. In a competitive and challenging
field, Jeyd has been able to make her mark.
